In my community I found that many people need to feel comfortable with whatever it is they are doing. I found that many people, when told about the Science for Adults program, said “they never did well at science in school” and didn’t want to attempt it now. We get a lot of older women coming to our programs and often times, in the past, science was discouraged for young girls. Science is not something they feel comfortable with. I also find that the people in my community do not like to talk about things they dislike or disagree with. Conflict is not comfortable for them. We are trying to take babysteps with all types of programming to allow people to voice their opinions without feeling uncomfortable.
