By offering repeated STEM programming, customers can see the library as a public forum where topics, even controversial ones, will be discussed.
Library can provide unique experiences with a higher level of interactivity such as taking the program group out on library grounds to forage. We have an ability to be conveners and offer programs different from schools, clubs, etc.
If we are not in some fashion a community center, we aren’t doing our jobs. That comment resonated with me as it is an area that our library is not strong in. I guess the main insight is to be outward facing. We did some surveys to try and determine community interests for programming. We are using 2 of those topics for our final programs.
