At Santa Margarita library, our Tradition event had 14 participants. We watched an interview of the author Emily St. John Mandel and then discussed the book Station Eleven. We took a break with snacks and comic books (like Miranda’s Station Eleven) for prizes. We then discussed the traditions of our community that we would value and how we would survive using everyday science in a post apocalyptic world. Every person in the group got involved in the discussion which was really wonderful!

Our Transformation event had 12 participants. We again watched an interview of the author Hope Jahren and then discussed the book Lab Girl. We also watched the PushingTheLimits video which complemented the book as it was also about a woman growing up with a passion for her work. We again took an intermission to have some refreshments and had nature notecards for prizes. We then discussed the importance of plant life in our community. We had three botanists in our group so it made for a very interesting discussion.
