The Johnson City Library held its second STEM program on transformation Oct. 22. We read the book “How Enlightenment Changes the Brain.” We choose this book thinking it the opposite of “Friday Night Lights”, our last book. Some of our patrons thought the book too scientific. That was interesting since our science partner, a neuroscientist, thought the science part of the book was lacking. I did skim the book, but I got a lot out of it and recommend it. Our other science partner is a certified counselor, so we had two different viewpoints on transformation. We had an excellent conversation on enlightenment and how the brain functions. The neuroscientist was such an eloquent speaker that we all learned a lot. We had the program here at the library and served dinner with 18 in attendance.
